Quick FirePower Information

Post by Scott - A2A »

Official FirePower detailed information:
http://www.a2asimulations.com/firepower

MOVIES:
http://www.a2asimulations.com/firepower/movies
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The FirePower philosophy:
To create the most realistic air combat experience possible.
FirePower comes with a "Live Update" feature, that allows you to get the latest FirePower updates with just a few simple clicks. Our job is to make your whole experience the best it can be.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

INSTANT ACTION MISSIONS:
Do not miss those Instant Action missions in the MISSIONS / TRAINING section.

Try mission#5, and as soon as the mission starts, look to your left. This is where we took the "Sub Base Attack" movie. Take off and stop those ships from leveling your entire airfield. There is a lot of action, so keep your eyes out for traffic on the runway too to avoid any collisions during takeoff. These missions have almost unlimited re-playability, and are fun to fly over and over again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

MULTIPLAYER:
Firepower comes with a “FirePower Multiplayer Utility,” located in your START MENU / PROGRAMS / FirePower for CFS3 directory. It just toggles between STOCK and FIREPOWER, so you can join stock online games with a FirePower installation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

TAXI-VIEW:
For those who are flying FirePower now, if you didn’t try out this feature, use the SHIFT C command to open your canopy. This is the FirePower Taxi View.
Here is a short 3MB video showing how it works:
http://www.a2asimulations.com/firepower/movies/taxi.zip
-----------------------------------------------------------------

G-VIEW:
This allows you to "see" the g-forces you would feel in the real airplane, allowing better feedback to "ride the edge." Information and a movie can be found here:
http://www.gmxmedia.net/forum/viewtopic ... ba56d06f4a
-----------------------------------------------------------------

FREEWARE:
If there is any freeware package that you would like us to test for FirePower compatibility, let us know what it is and where to find it.

Scenery / missions / repaints:
B-29

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Campaigns:
3rd party campaign from Ricnunes:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Nationality Expansion Kit (NEK):
This patch is ONLY for those who are using RCAF_Gunner's Nationality Expansion Kit (NEK). This will brings all NEK vehiles up to the FirePower standard. It can be downloaded here:
http://www.a2asimulations.com/firepower ... ate_v1.EXE
-----------------------------------------------------------------

1% Aircraft:
1% aircraft will plug into FirePower and fly as they were intended to. You should play FirePower in STOCK mode when mixing FirePower and 1% aircraft, since 1% use their own weapons, instead of the stock weapons. Please be aware that when operating in STOCK mode, FirePower aircraft, vehicles, buildings, and ships are no longer "FirePowerized." In essence, you are moving FirePower aircraft into a stock world, so the experience will not be a FIREPOWER one, but a STOCK one. You can play 1% aircraft in FIREPOWER mode, and they will benefit from enhanced effects and damage, but the 1% weapons will be noticeably weak in comparison to since they do not upgrade to the FIREPOWER standard when in FIREPOWER mode. The STOCK / FIREPOWER mode change is here for your convenience, to allow your single FirePower installation to be fully compatible.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
In CFS3, under Optioins, we recommend the following:
Display Settings:
Aircraft - 5
Terrain - 2
Objects - 2
Effects - 5
Clouds - 5

Realism:
Flight Model - HARD
Weapon Effectiveness - NORMAL
-----------------------------------------------------------------

KNOWN ISSUES:
B29 sticks to the runway and does not move.

The UK version of FirePower needs the MS 3.1 update to be installed BEFORE FirePower. It can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs3/downloads.asp

Start the mission
RELEASE BRAKES (before starting the engines)
Once all engines are up, then throw the throttles forward

This is an issue built into the CFS3 engine with heavy aircraft with nose wheels.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

MISC:

How to add the Sonic Boom effect to the ho229v5 or any FirePower aircraft:
First, I need to mention that this, like most XDP changes, may affect multiplayer compatibility.

Copy and paste the following into your effects.xml file (use notepad to open):

<fx_sonicboom ClassName="GroupEffect" Effect0="sonicboom1" Effect1="sonicboom2" Effect2="snd_Expl_Land_L"/>
<sonicboom1 ClassName="ParticleEffect" EmitterShape="sphere" EmitterRadius="1" EmitterLifetime="2" EmitterPosX="0.0" EmitterPosY="1" EmitterPosZ="0.0" ZBias="0.004" EmissionAngleHoriz="0.0" EmissionAngleVert="270.0" EmissionSpread="70" EmissionRate="0" EmissionRateVar="0" InitialDelay=".1" InitialCount="800" MinDistance="30" MaxDistance="4500" StopMethod="0" ZSort="0" UprightSprite="0" RandomStartRotation="1" RandomRotationDirection="1" Lifetime=".8" LifetimeVar=".1" Speed="50" SpeedVar="0" MaxSpeed="600" MaxSpeedVar="0.0" Accel="0" AccelVar="0.0" AccelTime="0" Gravity="0" Drag="0.0" DragDelay="1" InheritVelocity="1" Size="5" SizeVar="0" MaxSize="500" MaxSizeVar="5" GrowRate="1.0" GrowRateVar="10" RotationRate="15" RotationRateVar="7" FadeInTime=".15" InitialColor="255 255 255" InitialAlpha="0 0 0" Color="255 255 255" Alpha="70 70 70" FadeOutTime=".8" FinalColor="255 255 255" FinalAlpha="0" Texture="Smoke2.tga" BlendMode="QuadSprite"/>
<sonicboom2 ClassName="ParticleEffect" EmitterShape="sphere" EmitterRadius="1" EmitterLifetime=".4" EmitterPosX="0.0" EmitterPosY="1" EmitterPosZ="0.0" ZBias="0.004" EmissionAngleHoriz="0.0" EmissionAngleVert="270.0" EmissionSpread="70" EmissionRate="600" EmissionRateVar="0" InitialDelay="0" InitialCount="0" MinDistance="30" MaxDistance="4500" StopMethod="0" ZSort="0" UprightSprite="0" RandomStartRotation="1" RandomRotationDirection="1" Lifetime=".3" LifetimeVar=".1" Speed="50" SpeedVar="0" MaxSpeed="600" MaxSpeedVar="0.0" Accel="0" AccelVar="0.0" AccelTime="0" Gravity="0" Drag="0.0" DragDelay="1" InheritVelocity="1" Size="5" SizeVar="0" MaxSize="500" MaxSizeVar="5" GrowRate="1.0" GrowRateVar="10" RotationRate="15" RotationRateVar="7" FadeInTime=".05" InitialColor="255 255 255" InitialAlpha="0 0 0" Color="255 255 255" Alpha="70 70 70" FadeOutTime=".4" FinalColor="255 255 255" FinalAlpha="0" Texture="Smoke2.tga" BlendMode="QuadSprite"/>

Copy and REPLACE the entire "effects" section of the ho_229v5.xdp with the following text:

<Effects>
<Effect Type="Track" EffectName="fx_sonicboom" PosX="0.0" PosY="-1.0" PosZ="0.0" MinVel="306" MaxVel="309"/>
<Effect Type="StartEngine0" EffectName="fx_engstrt_jet" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="StartEngine1" EffectName="fx_engstrt_jet" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_haze" MinThrottle="-10" MaxThrottle="300" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_slow" MinThrottle="-10" MaxThrottle="25" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_low" MinThrottle="25" MaxThrottle="40" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_med" MinThrottle="40" MaxThrottle="60" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_high" MinThrottle="60" MaxThrottle="75" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_afterburner" MinThrottle="75" MaxThrottle="300" Location="emitter_jet_l"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust1" EffectName="fx_jet_haze" MinThrottle="-10" MaxThrottle="300" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust1" EffectName="fx_jet_slow" MinThrottle="-10" MaxThrottle="25" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust1" EffectName="fx_jet_low" MinThrottle="25" MaxThrottle="40" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust1" EffectName="fx_jet_med" MinThrottle="40" MaxThrottle="60" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust0" EffectName="fx_jet_high" MinThrottle="60" MaxThrottle="75" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="JetExhaust1" EffectName="fx_afterburner" MinThrottle="75" MaxThrottle="300" Location="emitter_jet_r"/>
<Effect Type="Shells0" EffectName="fx_shells_m" Location="gun_grp0b0"/>
<Effect Type="Shells1" EffectName="fx_shells_m" Location="gun_grp1b0"/>
</Effects>

You can also add this effect to any aircraft by just injecting the following line into the "effects" section of the aircraft XDP:

<Effect Type="Track" EffectName="fx_sonicboom" PosX="0.0" PosY="-1.0" PosZ="0.0" MinVel="306" MaxVel="309"/>

Scott

Tell me again please, I'm just a plug and player not into programing.

I had to reload everything and now I want to play on line with non-FirePower players and don't know how to find the so-called:

"Start menu, in the FirePower for CFS folder" that will allow me to convert back to a stock mode of operation.

Would you please email me at [email protected]

I know, I positively know I will never find this portal that I am typing to you again. So please copy a replay to me at [email protected] please... Oil Slick

Oil Slick,

You will receive an email automatically with this reply. The START MENU is the main pop-up menu in the lower left-hand portion of your Windows screen.
