FIREPOWER FEATURE - FirePower G-View (movie included)

FirePower Feature: G-view

FirePower flight modeling and force-feedback programming introduce a whole new world of flying to CFS3. FirePower incorporates new and advanced flight behaviors into the largely unexplored (and dangerous) area of uncontrolled flight (stalls and spins). To some pilots, this area is still a mystery. These are the pilots that never wanted to know what would happen if their plane ever got into a stall or spin (or were instructed not to), and therefore avoided that situation all together, sometimes for their entire flight career. Others had no choice but to live on the edge, and their survival depended on the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) feedback their plane gave them while riding this edge.

During the heat of combat, since much of a pilot’s mental energy had to be spent outwitting the enemy, there was little precious time to consciously think about how to fly the aircraft. Instinct took over many aspects of flying the plane. We went to great lengths to dissect this fascinating yet mysterious place where these combat pilot’s lived. We talked to them in great lengths, and did our best to carry their experiences through. CFS3 has one of the most advanced flight engines available. Though countless hours of experimentation and understanding, we learned to squeeze every bit out of CFS3 that it was willing to give, and did it with precision.

Like real WWII pilots, the new technology in FirePower allows you to naturally develop these skills. You can ride the edge of flight, making subtle changes because the airplane is telling you what it is doing by way of its feeling and behavior. Little by little, your subconscious learns to talk to the plane through your hands, feet, and eyes on its own.

Unlike them (WWII pilots), you are able to explore deeper places that these pilots never saw simply because, if you push your plane beyond its limits and fatally crash, you can “restart” to fly again. Every one of the fourteen planes in FirePower (nineteen counting variants) is a different animal; some are tame, some demand respect, and some fall somewhere in-between with their own unique personality and traits.

For those flying FirePower now, get in the habit of hitting the F1 keys before you takeoff. There is a brief but thorough overview and checklist that can really help you get the most out of your plane. Things like the speed at which to pull back the stick, flap settings, etc. are all there to help to quickly familiarize yourself with your new aircraft.

G-View is just another small step in the pursuit of the ultimate flying experience. G-View simulates the “seat of the pants” feel (the pressures a real pilot experiences). What we have done is translate what a pilot would feel into what he would see. The end result is, you instinctively better feel what the plane is doing in all types of flight. You will get a sense of when you are flying hot, cold, or just right.

One of the nicer benefits of G-view is when you are in slow flight, and not experiencing high g-forces, the cockpit stays still, which allows for both easier, more realistic, and more precise landings and takeoffs.

When you are moving on the ground, all of the bumps and jolts get translated into this view too. The end result is real aircraft and the experiences that go with them, have just gotten one step closer.

Hey Scott or(?) where can I download any and/or all of those amazing Firepower/CFS3 vids made from in game content? They were SO cool but now (except for one on Youtube) I cannot seem to find them anywhere  ... and there is still (over at the Simouthouse) an active community of us yahooze  (some of which make in game vids)... Plus I wuz hoping there might be some available that were never made public... (I'm a wishful thinker from way back!)
(...and the G-View movie link is dead) The Firepower planes and cockpits remain some of the best ever modeled! Y'all's last one, the P-51D, is a real stunner!
...anyways, any help is much appreciated... Thanx in advance and cheers 8)
