I learned in a J3 too. Most fun I ever had in a plane. This is a 1967 picture.

I think I was just going flying then so there's a good chance they were on. It was a real pile of junk. A western Nebraska sandhills rancher used to use it to check windmills. It had an 85 horse Continental though and it rented for $5 an hour in 1967!! I loved it. Can't wait to fly the A2A version.

I hope we're not hijacking this thread by remniscing about our Cub memories. So I will carry over this conversation in the other Piper Cub threads in the forum. Hope you can continue there.

I'll help get it back on topic. Woohoo for the WoP P-51D. I got the free one that came with the Wings of Power disc that I bought at Gamestop, compared to the 377 and P-47 it has begun showing it's age. That new rendition is smokin though. Definately will get that the moment it is released.

Do the clipped wing cubs have that kind of cowling on the nose? Or, is it a PA-11?

The cowling depends on the engine installed.
I have seen a J-3 clipped wing with the open cowl.
Mine has a Super Cub fuselage w/ C-85 but will also fit the O-200 hence the PA-11/early PA-18 cowl.
With an O-320 150hp it would have the newer Super Cub cowl.

That's a nice plane you got there. I was on the market for a PA11 due to the nice cruise speed that made the airplane a bit more practical than the J3 for flying. I see you also have dual wing tanks. What's the cruise speed you get in that plane?

Thanks, I am fortunate to have it.
It will cruise at 100mph comfortably.
A Cub w/ wing tanks is nice because you can solo from the front seat!!

If I might ask, will the Cub be released first?

Also, do you expect to release the Phantom this year or next?

Thanks guys! Can't wait :D

We are working now to get the Cub into beta. When it goes beta, I will let you know.

Like all Wings of POWER planes (and the 377), the Cub is a pure in-house project, so it is difficult to predict a release date. Once in beta for a week, it should be more clear.

Regarding the Phantom, we should have some progress updates in a few weeks. We certainly hope to have the Phantom out this year, but again, until the product is in beta, it's tough to know for sure.

Due to the current economy, I may be getting a nice Cub from a rancher. We struck a deal, but it was contingent on a couple of things (finishing inside fabric, fresh annual, etc).

In the meantime, I was kind of hoping to get the feel of flying again with A2A's Cub!
