PBR - a question

Post by Gabe777 »

Hi guys.

Do you plan to introduce PBR for extant or future aircraft, and if so can we at least have a choice as to whether we use it, or install "Non-PBR" liveries instead.

The reason I ask, is because I (along with many other punters) find the shimmer / specular-aliasing too much to bear.

(Whether or not LM manage to 'fix it', is anyone's guess.... as was Dynamic Lighting which is still horrendous on framerates !)

Thnx

Hello,

any PBR models will be just that, proper PBR models, not just liveries texture changes. Check out the latest update for some further details and images.

Hi Lewis.

Yes but some devs are giving punters a choice.

Carenado and Leonardo both have dual installers giving you the choice of PBR and standard.

It will be dependant on the platform at the time. The ones you mention so far are no doubt only due to releases crossing PBR line between the platform supporting and not supporting PBR. Similar to late FS2004 aircraft working great in FSX during the crossover period.

My biggest concern is FPS. I've never heard one way or the other how it will be affected. I haven't used any PBR content in 4.5 as far as I know.

No real P3D experience here, but more generally speaking, it is very FPS-friendly technique.
