I currently own the ATA C172 and C182 for P3DV4.5. I am looking to purchase the GTN750 to replace the standard GPS's. There are two vendors for this GPS, Flight One and RealityXP.
My question is are both these GTN750s supported as replacements or do I need to purchase either the Flight One version or the Reality XP version?

Hi!
Both are supported. Yo can choose the respective version in the configuration manager. I have the F1 version and am pretty happy with it. RXP users claim their support works better (indeed it might take a couple of days for F1 to update when a new version and sub version of p3d comes out) and RXP supports more functions (however, they are both based on the official Garmin Trainer software, so I don’t think the differences are big). Can’t really comment on that as I never tried RXP.

Re: Reality XP GTN750/650 or F1 GTN750/650
Hi Steve,
The recently remodelled 172 has native support for both RXP and F1 GTNs. Both will also work in the 182, although a couple of extra steps are required to get the RXP version working here as the 182 predates its release.
My personal preference is for the RXP version and we also tend to see a few more issues associated with the F1 version, but either should work fine.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,
You mentioned the recently remodelled 172. How can I find if my c172 is the remodelled version and if it isn't how do I get the update?
Thanks,
Steve

There's some info on the P3Dv4/v5 update process in this pinned thread Steve. If you downloaded the product after May 2018, you should have the latest installer with built in updater.
Cheers,
Nick

I use the F1 on both Comanche and Bonanza and although the configuration looks a bit confusing, once installed, it quickly becomes an indispensable nav tool.

I have zero experience with the F1 GTNs, but after much online comparison and research, I bought the RXP GTN 650 and 750 combo for myself on Christmas Eve, 2019.
First, I installed the RXP 750 and 650 in my Bonanza. Over the following week I get the RXP GTN 750 in my Comanche and Cessna 182, and the RXP GTN 650 in my T-6, Civ Mustang, and Connie. As Nick says, it involved a couple extra steps. Here is a link to my comments on the process: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=70971&p=539776&hilit=GTN#p539776.
I enjoy flying my A2A aircraft. Part of the fun, for me at least, is to fool around with the GTN while flying. I like to practice various types of approaches at some of the local airports, including Paine Field, Boeing Field, etc. Reading the manuals for the aircraft definitely helps - the Civ P-51 is a great example. There are several parameters you have to get just right in order for your GTN to capture the glide slope in the Civ P-51, as discussed on Page 14 of the A2A P-51 Manual. Always a challenge, but most satisfying when you get it right.
My MJ C-47 has a 2-D popup GPS, which I figured out how to replace with my RXP GTN 750. Very nice.
Don't tell anybody about this, but I used a bit of the GPS info in the MJ C-47 aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg files to install the RXP GTN 750 as a 2-D popup in my A2A B-17! Sacrilege! Yeah, but don't you think that most of the B-17s that are still flying around today have some sort of GPS installed?
So, based on my experience, and fairly recent observations of the RXP vs. F1 discussion, I'd say go with RXP.

Not sacrilege these days using GPS in an old bomber. I saw B-17 Aluminim Overcast visiting KCXY near Harrisburg, PA. Sure enough in center panel right above the throttles was a GNS 530. Practically necessity in today's airspace.Paughco wrote: ↑09 Jan 2021, 13:28 I have zero experience with the F1 GTNs, but after much online comparison and research, I bought the RXP GTN 650 and 750 combo for myself on Christmas Eve, 2019.

RXP GTN 750 in Bonanza and Commanche. RXP GNS 530/430 in Skylane. Works well.
