VIDEO: From the sim T-6 to the real thing

Post by Dreamsofwings »

Having enjoyed flying 'Wacky Wabbit' in the sim I got the opportunity to fly in the real thing. Here's what we got up to.

Very cool. 8)

I have a toss up in going for a flying adventure, between a T-6 flight or a high performance glider. Can't decide which to go for. Both are located in about the same area a few hours from here.

Thanks!

I think the experience of high performance flight without an engine sound, just the noise of the airflow would be amazing.

....but......

Old warbird radial engine, scent of oil and fuel, the vibration.........Oh Yes!

Yep. That says it about perfectly. Really loud versus really quiet and both would be really cool. :)

Great stuff Rob! That big grin on your face during the landing says it all. :D A bit mean of them to have removed the rear stick so you didn't get to have a go, but looks like a great experience nonetheless.

All the best,

Hi Nick!
Oh it was a cracking flight and without the stick meant more aerobatics time which was great fun to experience and get some tips!
Incredible how familiar it all was after flying the A2A T-6

Great video! Though I felt that the cockpit checkout must have felt like: "Oh yeah? The airspeed indicator shows what? Oh, speed. In the air. Gotcha!"

After my first flight in a real GA-aircraft I felt that exact same thing. Everything looks and behaves like the sim, but he "feeling" lacks. I went and overspent (not really) on Brunner Yoke (and subsequently got rudders as well) with force feedback.

After a flight in a T-6, complete with loops, rolls, and all that (and also a very close shave avoidance of ground loop) I had my intentions of getting PPL cemented. The T-6 is such a dynamic and living machine. Shaking, rattling, and so incredibly powerful. It's like riding a dragon. You can't tame it, but you can learn to co-operate with it.

All the Accusim-planes are in my hangar, but they aren't sitting long enough for their engines to cool much before next flight!
