xx F1 GTN 750 xx (Reality XP??) A2A DEFAULT GNS 400

Post by rod55 »

Hi fellow RW&Sim-Pilots

hoping the below info-release from the F1 company is of interest and use to those who use the F1 GTN. So it looks like within the coming months I'll be using new navigation software (for P3D v5.2etc)

"Important Information on the GTN/GNS Complete Series Products

The developers of the GTN Complete and GNS Complete products have informed Flight One Software that they have stopped active development on these products. As a result, we will discontinue sales of these products after the close of business on June 30, 2021. This decision is beyond Flight One Software's control. Updates and support for the GTN Complete and GNS Complete will end December 31, 2021. The developers will update for P3D v5.2 compatibility. Previous purchasers will still be able to re-download their purchases in their Flight1 Agent libraries."

Should I buy and replace with Reality XP navigation software? (any pros 'n cons). And again, A2A resolves this.

Consequently I've edited and revised subject title and conclude so:

after pondering and importantly flying superb A2A planes with the excellent and immersive P3Dv5.2, I consider the A2A default GNS 400 absolutely adequate and not irritating; no need to look elsewhere. Motto "minimise 3rd parties and eye-candy and keep it simple".

Hi.
I dont recall buying these , but i think some carenado aircraft came with these products , makes me glad that my main interest in flight siming is now focused on ww2 aircraft in the main and aircraft like the connie , good old fashioned navigation.

Hahaha oh well, I haven't used the F1 version since I realized that there was no way to completely silence all the ground prox/pull-up warnings that were constantly barking at me for the way I fly my Mustang on a regular basis!!
All the better then that I bought the RXP version as well...and my Mustang doesn't leave home without it! I still can't get the bezel buttons to work, but what the hay...

Cheers,
Rob

Alan, did you mean that the Carenado planes came with the config to use the F1 units? There are a lot of aircraft with this option including A2A planes, but the F1 units are a 3rd party stand alone purchase.

Rob, There is a button on the terrain page menu that switches off the terrain warning. Also you can use the Windows Volume Mixer (bottom right of screen) and select the F1 units during a flight session to adjust sound levels.
Cheers

Thanks, I'm aware of that, but it does not silence the PULL-UP warnings. Having to screw with the Windows mixer for that reason isn't a good solution for me either, so I'm quite pleased with the RXP version, even with the absence of the Direct-To function 8)

There is not Direct-To function in the RXP?

Thank you,
Richard.

It is, but reading above it doesn‘t work on his side for whatever reason.

Yes there is and it works just fine on A2A airplanes that support the RXP, like the Bonanaza. It doesn't work in the Civ Mustang (not supported by A2A...) through the RXP Conversion tool thing within the sim, whatever it's called...some have apparently gotten it to work, but it never has for me. It's actually easy to work around that though, so I prefer no DIrect-To function to the constantly screaming PULL-UP messages during what is a normal Mustang approach to me...

Cheers,
Rob

I had the Flight1 GTN 750 for years, but had a few problems. The so called support for this product has been non existent for a long time, it was an absolute joke. I eventually gave up and now use the Reality 750. So as far as I am concerned it is no loss.

Absolutely the same. Always had to double click the bezel buttons and the customization options were marginal. Imo the RXP version is way better. Pity only some A2A addons support them.

Given the situation regarding the F1 GTN, maybe A2A will decide to make some adaptations in order to make the aircraft and the RXP compatible... 8)

Back in December 2019 I bought the RXP GTN 650 and 750 (thank you, Santa!) Then commenced the struggle to get it working in my A2A aircraft.

Bonanza: not a problem, as the RXP GTNs are in the aircraft config menu (thank you, A2A)!

My Comanche and Cessna 182 have the RXP GTN 750. The T-6, P-51, and Connie have the RXP GTN 650. Here is the link to how I got them to work, buttons and all: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=70971&p=539772&hil ... TN#p539772.

I've also got a 2-D version of the GTN 750 working in my A2A B-17! Bad Grampa!!

I bought the RXP 530 but then found out it doesn't have a terrain map so I don't use it. What I would like to have is something bigger than the 400 that has a terrain map that I can use and that I can install in my A2A aircraft.
