B377 in P3Dv5.2hf1

Post by bullfox »

Just to see what what would happen I moved the b377 folder out of FSX and into P3d. It mostly works with a few problems. I was wondering if A2A would sanction a team of volunteers to fix the few problems and getting it fully working in P3d?

The Strat must be the most demanded plane from the community, there is a thread asking if it will be updated created every other month, it was even the winner of the recent "what's your favourite A2A plane" but for some reason it has been abandonned.

Which is a shame because the Connie is fabulous and works just fine. But it's slower and much more simple to fly... I really miss the challenges of flying the Strat :(

If I recall correctly Scott said the 377 can‘t be „ported“ to 64 bit like the Connie was as its code is much older and not capable of the new situation. I‘m no software guru, so bare with my explanation. However he said it would have to be developed again from scratch. The main issue seem to be the accusim superchargers. Same problem I believe as the P47. Highly wanted, loved everywhere and surely missed. But the first generation of accusim is just too old.

Another big advantage of the Strat is with all the new scenery the view out the front is really something. In P3d every thing works except the rudder and the whole plane shakes as if it is on the verge of a stall. Even if just those two problems could be fixed I would take it.

Would love this as well. The B377 is much more interesting than the Connie in my opinion

Thousands of hours happily spent in that aircraft! I just yesterday found in a box some original flight documents from BOAC Atlantic service! If it were updated for v5 I’d be happy to dive right in….but I think A2A has plenty of other projects that will take precedence over that! Still……

I have a feeling the Strat is in the same boat as a certain MD-11. A small, but fiercely loyal fan base who don’t get why she doesn’t get the love she clearly deserves.

I still have FSX installed for both…. :D

I really like the B377.

I have a question. When I installed my flight simulators on a new computer, I did not install FSX, only P3Dv2. Will the 377 work properly in P3Dv2? I know it loads and looks OK but I didn't try flying it. I did not even attempt installation in P3Dv4.5.

I didn't even purchase P3Dv4 until I had the Aerosoft BeaverX totally upgraded to 64 bit, where it works just fine.

Hook, I found this on Avsim: A2A B377--partially working--no cockpit lights, with cold-start mode engines won't start and some knobs stop working

There is no information on whether this was COTS…but I assume it was.

Thanks, Jacques. That sounds about right for P3Dv4. I was wondering if the Strat would work in P3Dv2.

Hook, I did find this: https://my737ng.com/articles/tricking-a ... fsx-steam/

Which honestly seems a bit of trouble beyond getting FSX:SE…which does provide for easy file repair when (or if) things go awry in your installation. :D

Hi Hook.

I don't think I tried her in v2 but had her installed in v3 using the Estonia Migration Tool. Somewhere along the way, during one of the many v3 patches she stopped working. I have not used the tool since then.

Hey, thanks guys! :D

I installed it long ago on v2 without problems, loaded it and made sure it ran but never got beyond that. All this seems like a lot of hoops to jump through and if it is not 100% functional I'm not sure it's worth it. Better to buy FSX:SE.

I guess a quick test is to make sure the cockpit lights work and the engines will cold start.
