b-17 Primer not functioning

Post by omnijet »

Hello, my problem is that the primer in the B-17 stopped responding to the mouse. Engines won't manually start without it. Also, any function that would normally function with the mouse wheel/button, such as supercharger control, etc., not working as well. Any ideas?

Hello,

if you recently installed anything you'll want to be checking that if all of a sudden mouse controls are not working correctly in the sim. Some third party software can disable the middle mouse button.

thanks,

I recently downloaded Jahn's new C-47 beta v3. That may be it. The mouse wheel not working there either. Beautiful ship that I would hate to disable just for a primer. I can still do an automatic start on the B-17. I would like to see what A2A could do with the C-47/DC-3.

Thanks, Dennis

I dont expect it to be that as so long as you have the latest version that C47 is a blast to fly. I was thinking more any new utilities, for example I know that in both Chaseplane and FSUIPC it is possible to remap the mouse wheel to different things or disable it etc.

thanks,

Nope, no other 3rd party add ons. FSUIPC had been giving me fits and I re-downloaded it... the free edition. I wonder if I tried the paid version, it would help with a bunch of problems that it caused. It doesn't always want to connect to FSX on startup. Also, it has some of my Saitek Panels confused at times. How do I reprogram the mouse?

By the way, I am a big A2A fan... I have the B-17 Accu-Sim, L-049 COS Constellation and AT-6. Great airplanes! But I wish there were more liveries available.

Are you using TrackIR or something similar? If you get your head position 'out of range' the mouse can cease to activate functions.

Do you see the tooltips when you hover over the controls in the cockpit? If 'yes' then the mouse is being 'seen' and the issue is not associated with a head tracker.

The paid version of FSUIPC will give you a LOT of control over the various actions. For instance, when I select an engine to start, the primer moves to that engine as does the fire extinguisher with one press of a switch on my throttle quads. I have several 'multiple action' assignments to switches in my various A2A aircraft. I can go from cold & dark to all engines started and the aircraft ready to taxi without using the mouse or keyboard. Just my throttle quad switches does all the 'work'.

Thanks for contributing, Paul

I do not have TrackIR. The mouse is recognized since tool tips appear when I hover. The pointed finger curser appears and the hand closes on the device holding a left click. Moving the mouse with the grip closed seems to work by dragging in one direction or another. I can get the mouse wheel to work by holding the curser over the control and holding the left click and rolling the mouse wheel and the same tine. (tricky) This works on everything but the primer... the supercharger wheel, the gyro horizon adjustment, magneto switches, etc.

I will try getting the Registered FSUIPC if you think it brings that much to the game.

Thanks again Paul

Depending upon your controllers, FSUIPC can effectively multiply the number of 'switches/button' using the 'conditional assignment' feature to give you essentially unlimited 'virtual' switches/buttons.

This could reduce your reliance on the mouse to activate cockpit functions, replacing them with switch/buttons instead.

FSUIPC will also give you access to Lua facilities that can give you additional options for manipulating functions in your aircraft.

The documentation is quite extensive but does take careful study to realize the power that the registered FSUIPC brings to the simulation. I believe that you can access the documentation by downloading the appropriate version and running the installer but not completing the registration process. The installer should create a Documents sub-folder in the Modules folder. That folder will contain the following documents:
===============================================================================
Files placed in the Modules\FSUIPC Documents folder
Main FSUIPC4 Documentation
FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf The user manual, in Adobe Acrobat format <================ Study
FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf More technical information only (Acrobat format) <================ Study
FSUIPC4 History.pdf A list of changes in each version (Acrobat format)

Additional specialised facilities in FSUIPC4
ASN WX Radar facilities in FSUIPC4.pdf Details of facilities generating data and bitmaps for WXRadar
Profiles in Separate Files.pdf Description of newer facility for managing profiles.

LUA Plug-ins: Documentation and Examples
FSUIPC Lua Plug-Ins.pdf Introducing the powerful Lua plug-in facilities
FSUIPC Lua Library.pdf Documentation for the additional FSUIPC Lua libraries <================ Study
Example Lua Plugins.zip A zip file containing some short Lua examples
Lua license.pdf A copy of the Lua licensing agreement
Lua Plugins for VRInsight Devices.pdf Special support for VRInsight devices
LuaFileSystem.pdf Description of the Lua file system provisions

Information about data provided through FSUIPC4 offsets

List of FSX and P3D Controls.pdf FSX/P3D controls list (Acrobat format) <================ Study
FSUIPC4 Offsets Status.pdf Includes offset lists, for use in Offset controls and plug-ins
Offset Mapping for PMDG 737NGX.pdf List of offsets to access 737NGX data
Offset Mapping for PMDG 777QOTSII.pdf List of offsets to access 747QOTSII data
Offset Mapping for PMDG 777X.pdf List of offsets to access 777X data
===============================================================================

After you have studied the "FSUIPC4 User Guide.pdf", "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf " and the
"FSUIPC Lua Library.pdf" you can decide if you want to purchase the Key to register and activate
the full version.

FSUIPC is not for everyone, the 'casual' simmer, but offers others a very powerful set of tools to
enhance their simulation environment .
