Here are some test shots of some repaints that should be available soon.
"NAS Minneapolis" FG-1D
A depiction of the award-winning Gary Kohs' FG-1D, restored by Airpower Unlimited, as it looked following restoration in a pure/authentic 1945 factory paint scheme.
And here is another depiction of the same aircraft immediately above, as it looks today, now in the ownership of Vintage Wings of Canada, and placed in Robert Hampton Gray markings (the base factory paint scheme/details having remained unchanged).

Re: Some New Repaint WIPs
Here's another, soon to be finished/uploaded, depicting an FG-1D assigned to the Naval Reserve Unit at NAS Livermore, circa 1946.

This one has been uploaded to Sim-Outhouse and Flightsim.com, depicting the F4U-4 owned/operated by Tom and Dan Friedkin/Comanche Fighters. The markings are those of VMF-214 "Blacksheep Squadron", circa 1950.

Re: Some New Repaint WIPs
Thank you Lewis, I appreciate it!
I have vastly modified the (never released) 1946 NAS Livermore scheme into what I feel is a far more accurate rendition, based on all of the resource material I have found and my own conclusions formed from it. The repaint is now uploaded to Sim-Outhouse and Flightsim.com.
With this as the standard Naval Reserve scheme for fighters operating in the US mainland in 1946, no wonder the Blue Angels scheme came about as it was - the Blue Angels were formed around the exact same time, 1946, with Hellcats painted in the same colors. Note that they painted more of the aircraft glossy sea blue at this point, including the landing gear struts, wheels, tailhook, and prop dome.

Super paints Bomber. That NAS Livermore really seems to change the whole aircraft for some reason.
I have downloaded most of them and look forward to more.
Thanks Chris

Re: Some New Repaint WIPs
Thank you Chris and Lewis! I like that with the NAS Livermore scheme, with so much painted sea blue, it is very business-like, but at the same time, without any national insignia on the fuselage (you can see where it is painted over), it looks less like a military aircraft and more like, perhaps, a racer. During this immediate post-WWII time period, through the Navy and USAAF, the reserve and national guard markings harkened back to the pre-WWII years, when they didn't use any national insignia on the fuselage then either. The fuselage insignias were eventually added back on by the late 40's, through both the Navy and USAF reserve/guard squadrons.

Re: Some New Repaint WIPs
I agree it does look rather cool sans the fuse stars, I think it screams Post war though as some of the colours across the globe with the late props, early jets seem to be right out of comic books, some lovely schemes.
thanks,
Lewis
