No pilot in J3 cub

Post by logiq »

I purchased the new P3Dv4 Accusim J3 Cub yesterday. It is installed to the default location = C:/Docs/P3Dv4 Addons.
The aircraft displays well, but in the Payload and Fuel Manager I have a passenger who is in the Silent mode, I am unable to change her mood.
There is no Pilot shown, if I click on the area, there is a brief appearance and then gone, if I hold mouse down, it cycles between male and female, then nothing.
I am unable to find where to attach a pic of my Payload and Fuel Manager.

Hi logiq and welcome to the A2A forums.

I just checked and it seems the behaviour you're reporting may happen if you try to load a pilot while the Cub is still tied down. Please can you try setting the tie downs to "off" in the Shift 3 "controls" menu before you load the pilot in the Shift 4 menu.

Thanks,

Hi Nick, thanks for the welcome.
I have checked and the Tie Down = OFF but is greyed out.
In checking in P4AO regarding another Aircraft entry, it shows an error for the Cubs xml with the Component 4 = Scripts highlighted.
Components 1 2 3 and 5 are all okay.
Checking into the Docs/ P3Dv4 Addons/A2A there is no folder for Scripts.
Checking the addon xml Scripts is there as an Addon Component.
It would appear that is a missing link.

I had the same problem of no pilot in the cockpit or the Payload and Fuel Manager (SHF 4) menu. Your work-around of insuring the Tie Downs are "OFF" in the Mini Controls (SHF 3) menu before loading a pilot cleared the problem for me.

Thanks Nick,

Greg

Thanks for the additional info logiq.

If tie downs are greyed out, it suggest the engine is running.

As regards the "scripts" entry in the add-on.xml, this is to ensure compatibility with other products in the Accu-Sim fleet. The Cub currently doesn't use Lua scripts.

I recommend you use the Shift 3 menu to select a cold start, remove the tie downs in the SHift 3 menu and then try loading a pilot via the Shift 4 screen.

Thanks,
Nick

P.S. Thanks Greg - we'll take a look at the Cub loading logic can to see if it can be made a bit more intuitive in this area.

Thanks for explaining the Scripts logic Nick. You were correct in that the engine was running.
Have done as you suggested, but still the same result, Cold Start > Remove Tie Downs > select Pilot = shows briefly and disappears.
Our passenger is still in a Silent mood, cannot select calm or fun.

Hmm, that's odd. Are you loading a stock P3Dv4 aircraft in your default scenario logiq?

Also, do you have P3D (and the Cub) installed to a Windows administrator account?

Thanks,

Nick, my default aircraft is the Beech Baron at Cambridge Airport.
Yes P3D is Installed and run as Admin.
The Cub was also installed as Admin.

Thanks

Okay, thanks.

Please can you let us know which subversion of P3Dv4 you have installed on your system?

Logiq, you don't want to see the pilot, trust me. He looks a bit freaky. I wouldn't feel safe being a passenger in his Cub.

Nick,
I have Prepa3D version 4.5.12.30293 and SimConnect version 4.5.0.0

Thanks for the warning Ron, is the female pilot more appealing?

A bit gobby for my taste. I go flying for a bit of peace and quiet. :D

EDIT: You can have a female pilot? What is the world coming to? I thought you meant female passenger.

Thanks for confirming that logiq - still trying to understand what's going on in your installation. Are you able to turn the "AccuSim" option on and off in the Shift 3 menu, and does the aircraft otherwise behave as expected?
