Hello and welcome to the A2A forums.

The existing installers aren't yet compatible with P3Dv5 as explained here. However, existing P3Dv4 users should be able to copy their A2A aircraft into P3Dv5 without too much trouble provided that the Windshield.dll is disabled. Do you have a copy of P3Dv4 which is already uninstalled?

It is possible to edit the Windows registry to make the installer see the P3Dv5 installation as P3Dv4. If you'd like to try this, please can you confirm which directory you've installed P3Dv5 to?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick
Managed to recover the P3V4.5 add-ons folder from my recycle bin
renamed the windshield .dll and then copied the Bonanza files into P3Dv5 add -on folder
That is fine and it seems to be working fine.

Of course the Piper cub was not there as only purchased it this morning.
I can temporary re install P3Dv4 load the Piper cub then copy across but is there an easier way.

Look forward to your response

regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

No firm timescale at the moment for P3Dv5 installers: we're still trying to chase down a few issues.

However, if you'd like to have a crack at installing your stuff into P3Dv5 with the current installers, you need to edit the registry to create an entry for P3Dv4 that actually points to your P3Dv5 directory. If you run this little registry script, it should do the trick; it's personalised for the install path you specified above. (I've assumed there should be a space between "Prepar3D" and "v5" as this is the default syntax.)

If you prefer to edit the registry manually instead, you'll need to add a registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4" containing a string with name "SetupPath" and value "D:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5".

Thanks,

Hi Nick
Migration successful
Thank you very much for your help.
Is it safe to leave the script in my windows registry file.

Or should I do a system restore to revert back to the original registry ????

I created a restore point before I ran the script.

Thanks again

Chris

Hi Chris,

You're welcome! The small change to the registry won't do any harm and if you should need to reinstall P3Dv4 for any reason, the registry entry concerned will be changed by the P3Dv4 installer.

Please bear in mind that the Cub isn't officially supported in v5 yet so you may notice some small issues (such as the reflections on the gauge glass being too strong). Also, please check the info I posted here about the P3Dv5 default scenario and don't forget to disable the Windshield.dll for now.

Thanks,
Nick
