Re: VIDEO: Spitfire Tutorial Series Part Two
Nicely done.
One small correction.. the A2A Spitfire I is rated for 87 or 100 Octane, not just 87. That is why there is permission to use the 12lb Boost.
Most people fly her as a "modern" of course and I think that operators would universally take you and a pair of cement shoes fishing if you did!
But perfectly possible.
Nerd note....
The Merlin III had the head strengthened and the Boost Cutout gear altered to facilitate use of 100 Octane.
The Mod numbers for this were 64, 77, 136, 154, 155 (possibly some others)
The Merlin XII had, as you said, the strengthened engine and modified boost all along.

Re: VIDEO: Spitfire Tutorial Series Part Two
I couldn’t sleep earlier this morning (2 am my time) so I spent an enjoyable 33 minutes and 32 seconds watching this second video tutorial! Well done, Rob...and no...it did NOT put me to sleep. Instead I had to fight the urge to start the computer and fire up the Spitfire! I also can’t bring myself to put 100 octane in her tanks, either, so another thumbs up from me there.

Another good one Rob, thanks for keeping the series going!!
Your videos always inspire me as well and now that I'm coming to terms with the Mustang and have been spending a bunch more time with the Spitfire, your instructional series has been a really good in-depth program through which to learn it properly
Cheers,
Rob

Your tips on looping the Mustang are priceless! Makes it so much more pleasurable (and far less dangerous!)

Many thanks Lewis! It's incredible that the A2A Spit is so detailed that it allows it to actually be studied!Lewis - A2A wrote: ↑05 Jul 2020, 13:44 Yes ROB!!!!

Ya just gotta' like it when a plan comes together! And yes, aerobatics are definitely a lot more fun when they're not scary and dangerous!!Dreamsofwings wrote: ↑09 Jul 2020, 11:54 Thanks so much Rob.
