Throttle-Mixture lever relationship?

Post by francesco.doenz »

I do not understand the talk going on in this reference:
http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/ ... Sec8-7.jpg

where there is mentionned some kind of connection between the throttle and mixture levers? It concerns the Mark one. Does anybody have an opinion? Does this connection exist only in some Mark one planes? Or is it just my english?
Looking forward to a senior explanation!

It sounds to me they are just describing how the throttle and mixture arms share the same shaft. They aren't speaking of any functional relationship between the throttle and mixture though. Darryl is however the final authority on this.

My pleasure..

The pushrods are not connected and work independantly BUT there is a "Catch Plate" in the throttle body which drags the mixture back to "RICH" (thank you Dark Eagle, it's late here!!!) if the throttle is closed. The same plate prevents the mixture being moved forward to weak if the throttle isn't opened at least half way or so. It was looked at during development..but too many other, more important features to work on.

I've done this mechanically in the Simulator. (a major pain for flying anything else!! )
