Hi all,
I installed the P-40 and lost both my Spitfire MkI and II’s hours, probably due to the Accusim update.
Is there any way to change the values for them in the files so I can get my hours back?
Cheers Marcus

Which flightsim platform are you using Marcus?

You can look in your users/documents/ A2A/ FSX/ Spitfire folder and find backups for your .DAT file for all your variations of Spitfire (Ia, IIa, IIb ). The latest .bak should restore you close enough to where you were.

Re: Spitfire hours lost
Thanks Jacques, I followed the path you suggested, and renamed one of the .bak files to match the Spitfire’s .dat file but no success, the hours are still zeroed. It seems to overwrite the log dat file each time I open the Spitfire in the sim and reverts back to 0 hours.
Is there a way to edit the .dat file?
Cheers Marcus

Hi Marcus,
Please can you check whether any of the *.dat files in your "Documents\A2A\FSX\Spitfire" folder have a "v2_" prefix or not? If so, this indicates that your Spitfire installation had the latest Accu-Sim update installed.
However, did you run the Accu-Sim update (available here) since you installed the P-40? If not, doing so should resolve the issue.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Spitfire hours lost
Thanks Nick,
I applied the update as per your link and the log file now has a v2 prefix, but it hasn’t resolved the problem, still 0 hours on all my Spits.
I also tried renaming one of the older .bak files to match the new v2 .dat file but no luck there either.
Have you got any more thoughts or ideas?
Cheers Marcus

Re: Spitfire hours lost
Hi Marcus,
Sorry, no other suggestions unless you saved a backup of the "Documents\A2A\FSX\Spitfire" folder from before the point at which you started renaming files that you can restore? Renaming a non-v2 files so that it uses the "v2_" prefix won't work I'm afraid as the files are structured differently.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,
I’ve got a couple of the old .dat files saved from before I did the renaming.
Will these work without the v2 prefix in the new version of Accusim?
Cheers Marcus

Re: Spitfire hours lost
Hi Marcus,
They should. If you have the latest version of Accu-Sim installed, it should read the contents of one of the old .dat files and then resave it to the new version with the "v2_prefix". At this point, it'll ignore the old version and just use the new one. However, make sure you don't confuse it with the .dat.f files which record persistent radio frequencies, not engine hours.
Thanks,
Nick
