We've been hired to fly some fellows from Colombia to Panama. Seems these guys were involved in a little dust-up in neighboring Venezuela and they've made their way through the boonies to Medellin, Columbia. We're supposed to transport them from Olaya Herrera Airport (SKMD) to either Tocumen International (MPTO) on the south coast of Panama, or Enrique A Jimenez Airport (MPEJ) on the north coast of Panama.
Here are both flight plans, from SkyVector:
https://skyvector.com/?ll=7.64865908315 ... 41W%20MPTO
https://skyvector.com/?ll=7.79971122712 ... MEX%20MPEJ
We'll file for Tocumen with ATC, but we may have to go all the way to Enrique A Jimenez.
We'll all be flying four engine transport aircraft capable of 200+ knots and operation at altitudes in excess of 13,000 ft MSL. If you're flying an A2A Connie, select low fuel and full passenger load Shift+4 options. We'll start at separate gates at Olaya Herrera, ready to push back and start engines at 0800 local time. I'll be at Gate 1 as shown in Little Nav Map.
IRL: we'll meet at 1745 Zulu 4 Oct 20 and be ready to push back and start engines at 1800 Zulu. You may want to get there a bit earlier than 1745 to get your airplane ready, load passengers, etc. Use real weather. Set Active Sky to historical, synched to your sim time. If the weather is too nasty we'll kill Active Sky and go with default clear.
Meet on: Digital Theme Park on JoinFS.
Comms through A2A Discord channel.
We'll leave Olaya Herrera on one minute intervals. You'll have to really climb to clear the mountains as we leave Medellin. You'll need to take her up to about 16,500 to get over most of the clouds. After we fly over Chigorodo and make it past the Colombia/Panama border (identified by the beginning of the Cerro Tacaruna mountain range to the north and Darien National Park to the south), we'll begin a rapid descent down to about 3,500 feet AGL. We'll turn off our transponders as soon as we clear Colombian airspace. We'll continue on course, descending below 1,000 feet AGL as we approach Tocumen International. We'll overfly Tocumen, looking for any signs of hostile intent below. Your rear cargo compartment has been fitted with flares that will hopefully decoy any heat seeking missiles that may be encountered at or near Tocumen.
If Tocumen looks OK, we'll come back and land there. If not, we'll continue on, following the Panama Canal, to Enrique A Jimenez Airport.
This mission is voluntary. The A2A Misfit Squadron will be paid a million (virtual) Euros per full airplane, so we'd like a good turnout.
