Sunday, January 23 - Up The Andes

Post by ratty »

Let's take a little jaunt through the higher parts of Ecuador.

We start in the eastern lowlands at Montalvo, and fly west to follow the Rio Pastaza into the foothills of the Andes. Then it's mountain flying to Quito and across the Equator, to land at Tulcan on the Colombian border.

The trip is 265 nm, and recommended aircraft are Cherokee, 172, T-6, or 182. Yes, there is altitude involved, but no surprises (I think).

Having flown the route in the 182, I should note that the Cherokee and 172 would probably struggle on this one. It might even be Comanche- or Bo-worthy. You choose.
