Career mode

Post by gxsmith »

Hey Guys, everytime I load my passengers my career mode turns off and grey. I have reset pilot, tried different variations but to no avail it still turns grey and off. Consequently I have never had a flight for my career. All my crew and Heidi are there and my passengers are loaded just no career. Please help, if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks so much

Two things from the manual, don't know if this will help:

Shift 3
Career ON turns the Career Mode ON or OFF.
NOTE: Career Mode can only be turned ON or OFF when the
aircraft is on the ground with no passengers loaded.
Shift 4
Loading and unloading should only be carried out
when on the ground. If you try to access this
screen in the air, you will get a warning screen
letting you know that Career Mode will be disabled
if you change your load while in flight
Also, make sure your pilot's not in jail or similar.

No luck. Does A2A monitor these forums? Is this a bug or do I have to live with no career? thanks for your help

Hello,

are you running the latest version? Ive never seen anyone report any issues with the career mode turning off. Normally it turns off to stop cheating etc, as 'Hook' mentioned in the previous post there are conditions in which career mode will not be allowed on.

thanks

Would Unlimited Fuel in realism settings cause the career mode to turn off when the engines are running?

I'm guessing you can turn on career mode, but it turns off at some point.

Just to make sure, never load or unload passengers or fuel from the FSX dialog. Always use the B377 dialog.

Normally it wouldn't matter, but load the passengers, wait for Heidi's comment, then start the engines. Check your career mode between actions to make sure it's still active. If at any point it goes inactive, tell us the last couple of things you did.

If none of this works, hang in there, we'll get it eventually.

Okay Guys, I did not do anything and started to load passengers and instantly career went off when the first passenger stepped on board. I checked my realism settings and here they are: Under "Instruments and lights" Pilot controls lights, enable gyro drift, and display true airspeed are all unchecked. Display indicated airspeed is checked. Under "Crashes and damage". Ignore crashes unchecked. Detect crashes, aircraft stress, and allow collisions all checked. Under "Engines" enable automixture, unlimited fuel, and engine stress all unchecked. Under "Special effects" g effects is checked. Under "flight controls" auto rudder is unchecked. Any suggestions? I'm open to any help. Thanks again

I tried to fly without passengers and career stayed on until I lifted off then it went off.

Thanks, I think that knocks out all the obvious stuff. Sounds like your options are set correctly, unless Scott sees something I don't.

The pertinent remark is this:
instantly career went off when the first passenger stepped on board.
I'll have to think about this one a bit and get back to you. Hopefully it's enough for A2A to determine what's wrong.

Ok, we've seem to have a bizarre situation where the career module thinks you're airborne when you load the passengers, and/or thinks you have the loading screen on when you lift off. These are pretty much impossible situations.

One possibility is corrupt .dat files. These are in My Documents\A2A\FSX\377. I'm not sure which ones do what. If you're feeling adventurous, move all the files from that folder (leaving it empty) to a temp folder on your desktop and try to start a flight. If the entire thing erupts in a fiery ball, delete any new files there and move the files back from your temp folder and wait for guidance from Scott or Lewis.

Yes, next up is to remove the .dat file for a new one to be generated. Also worth noting if you have any other add ons running?

thanks

hi,

do you load up while standing on a refuel spot in FSX? You can not open your door as long as you are close to the gas station. It's an FSX bug that I can imagine to affect that.

Greets,
Marc
