generator max amps

Post by Zacke »

Hey guys,

what's the max amp performance of the generator?

Thanks,
Zacke

We installed a 62.5amp generator in the P-40.

Just tested that one: If one switches all electrical consumers on line (including hydaulic pump and prop pitch control) the amp meter shows around 110 to 120 ampere. If I've got that right, if the generator's amps are exceeded there's the battery that jumps in (what is the output power of the P-40 battery?). But only the generator's output should be shown on the amperemeter, or am I wrong here?

It seems the P-40's generator is used to it's capacity very fast (e.g. take off in nasty weather: landing light, pitot heat, hydraulic pump and permanently working pitch control).

Shouldn't there be a noticable surge (e.g. with the hydraulic pump) if the generator (and the battery) is at it's limit?

Zach, something doesn't sound right there. I will test this and get back to you.

Not yet Zach, but will be testing this and some other things either later today or tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

OK I looked into this and the ammeter is showing the total electrical load amps demand being sent to the generator. It should be the next step after this being the actual output of the generator. This has been fixed and will be released in a future update. Thanks for the feedback as this kind of stuff helps us make the airplanes even better.

Just one more thought on that one: Did I get that right the electrical systems works fine with the P40 but the ammeter is just built in at the "wrong logical place"?

Ok, it's unrealistic then and should be fixed. But until it is fixed it's an interesting feature for seeing behind the scenes of the simulation. Maybe that's a kind of positive thinking.
