I thought y'all might like this new video posted today of a short flight in a real P-40. Pilot Dave Hadfield does a great job of narrating the process, pointing out gauges and switches, even replaying the busy parts of the flight so you can see what he's doing. The camera shows the instruments clearly enough that even when he's not calling them out, you can see what manifold pressure, rpm, etc. he's using for takeoff, cruise, and aerobatics. This is an N model so the cockpit layout is different from the A2A, but a lot of the procedures are familiar to us, like having to hold down the hydraulic pump trigger when retracting and extending the gear. It speaks to how accurate the A2A is that so much of what he does is familiar to us.

Nice video. I was just watching Kermit Weeks P-40 videos. Rather long but he goes into great detail. He has quite a few videos with WWII aircraft. I really enjoyed the P-51C and D videos.K5083 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020, 22:08 I thought y'all might like this new video posted today of a short flight in a real P-40. I just checked out Dave Hadfields excellent video made while doing a post maintenance check flight. Thanks K5083 for putting that up here! Really well done, explains what he is doing in an easy and efficient manner and, yes, the name is familiar as he is the brother of commander Chris Hadfield - famous for his rendition of David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust” on the International Space Station.
Nice collection of Kermie videos as well!

Yes, his brother Chris has been known to fly a few warbirds as well. Not many pilots have "Spitfire" "Sabre" and "Space Shuttle" in their log books. Chris is fun to follow on instagram, where he shows that despite that log book, he still enjoys his old Cessna. Both guys have a modest down-to-earth (irony intended) quality.
