Hi
First let me say thank you again for this nice present, an awesome gesture.
Do you know if there is a way to fix this issue? I see very small and unreadable fonts in the P40 menu. I have the same issue on P51.
P3D 4.5 on W10.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Ros,
To add to Lewis's reply, it's also worth checking if you have any "Courier" fonts installed to your OS other than the default "Courier New". If so, try removing them leaving just Courier New behind.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: P40 fonts
Lewis: the resolution is 1920x1080. The sim runs in windowed mode, so same resolution.
Nick: I've checked the fonts and I only have Courier New installed.

Re: P40 fonts
Do you have any font changes set in windows, like large fonts enabled or anything like that?

Re: P40 fonts
That dialog uses Courier New at 15 points and Courier at 8 points. All his Courier text is wrong, and it looks like it may be using Arial instead.
Looks like you need to find and install the standard Courier font.

Re: P40 fonts
I duplicated the problem by editing Manager.xml and changing the COURIER font name to wxyz, but leaving Courier New unchanged. When the system couldn't find the non-existent "wxyz" font it used a default, which I believe is Arial.
There may already be a Courier font on the system, but not installed. Once you have the correct font installed the problem should go away.

Re: P40 fonts
I'd better make sure on this... 15 points and 8 points is the font size, not the number of times it's used.

Re: P40 fonts
I've tried several courier fonts, sadly with no success.
The issue is even worse in the hangar panel:
I have the "old" accusim P40 for FSX since years and never had this kind of issue. It's a W10 glitch for sure.

Re: P40 fonts
Ok, this is officially an interesting problem.
It turns out that I don't have a COURIER font registered on my system either. I only have Courier New. While I'm not an expert in fonts, usually when Windows encounters a font you don't have, it either uses some default font or uses something from a font family. In this case it should be Courier New, I would think.
Look for several instances of the following lines in your Manager.xml file which in my case is in the following directory:
D:\Prepar3Dv4\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes\WoP3_P40\panel\wop3_p40
Make a copy of this file for backup, then edit the original.
Look for:
<FontFace>COURIER</FontFace>
<FontHeight>8</FontHeight>
And in every instance change it to:
<FontFace>Courier New</FontFace>
<FontHeight>15</FontHeight>
You might have to adjust the FontHeight to get it looking just right.
The engine is in engine_details.xml and will need a similar treatment although many do not have a FontHeight.

Re: P40 fonts
I just a thought. LIRN is in Naples. You may be using a different font code page that doesn't handle the "courier" font specification the same way our Windows 10 does. I'm not sure how to fix this other than what I mentioned above. I will continue to research.

Re: P40 fonts
I think with Windows 10 at any rate, it's normal to just have "Courier New" (cour.ttf) as the only TTF Courier family font installed, with "Courier Standard" (coure.fon) present just as a system font. In other words, just Courier New is present in the Fonts section in the Settings UI, but a font called Courier Standard is present in the fonts folder (C:\Windows\Fonts).
Ros - this is the version of Courier New I have installed for the P-40 2-D windows to display correctly.
Might be worth comparing this with yours.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: P40 fonts
I have a font called Courier Regular in my fonts folder. It appears that's what is being used for "courier" font in the dialogs. If you zoom in on a screen shot the "courier" font is not being smoothed while "courier new" may have a bit. They are a bit different.
Edit: I figured out how to check it, and Courier Regular is coure.fon. At this point I'm almost certain that this is the font being used. Make sure you have this font on your system. If it's not there you'll get a default like Arial, which I was able to verify by changing the font specification in the file to the non-existant "wxyz" font and the screen shot matched the one with the problem.

Re: P40 fonts
Problem solved!!!!!
I have installed a very old "coure.fon", so not a TTF, and this fixed the problem.
Thank you guys for the kind help!
