Hi guys,
I must have some kind of fetish for all metal aircrafts so I'm looking for polished bare metal repaints for the civ P-51 and T-6. Can someone point me to the right place?
Thanks

"Squeaky Clean" by "Buzz313th" for P-51
P-51 here
http://www.mediafire.com/file/f3zm2pnkn ... 3.zip/file
"Bare Metal" by Ian Warren for A-T6
A-T6 here about 1/3 of the way down under "Metal Paint" title
https://www.freewarescenery.com/repaints/a2a-texan.html
I fly these because there are no markings and I just add my N-number and that's it.
I'm not sure if there are many metal birds out there with no markings. Hope this helps.

Re: bare metal repaints
Forgot to say these work in both FSX and P3Dv4

Re: bare metal repaints
Many thanks to you both for your suggestions and links.
Curtis: that's what I'm looking for, with no markings, pity they miss the polished finish.
Blade: I really like those shining repaints but without markings they would be even better (for my taste, of course)
Nonetheless, I'll download and add them to my Hangar for sure.
Thank you, gentlemen.
Cheers

I see. Then I'll fire off some blanks later. Should be easy enough, just turn off the layers with patterns. (famous last words)
I'll report back here when they are done.

Civilian P-51 blank. (P3D v4)
Download.
T-6 blank. (P3D v4)
Download.
Both made for P3d v4 but should be fine in FSX as well.

Re: bare metal repaints
If I could figure out the polished metal I could do my own. I just can't get it.

Re: bare metal repaints
The 'trick' is in the fresnel files. For the T-6 it's the fresnel3.dds and for the P-51 it's the fresnel5.dds. That, and having a really dark alpha channel for the shiny bits in the main texture. I don't think the env.dds file does much in P3D v4, but is usually essential for FSX and earlier versions of P3D.
To stop any paint or nose art shining, that part must be almost pure white in the alpha.

Re: bare metal repaints
I kind of understand all that and will keep playing with it. I have tried all kind of combinations with the grays in the main and alpha from slightly darker alpha to completely black alpha to no success. As for the Fresnel there has to be more to it than just dropping it into the texture folder. I hear people say they edit the Fresnel but I haven't figured out how to do that. I'll just keep playing with it and one day bam it will be there.

Re: bare metal repaints
You are welcome.
@curtis.
Your best bet is to load some fresnel files into your paint program if you can and see the difference in them. A long time ago, I 'borrowed' the fresnel5 out of the P-51 and used it as a fresnel3 in the Spitfire. After that, I experimented with different gray scale colour fill intensities using the paint bucket 'gradient' tool and I'm still experimenting.
Don't forget, that to effect only the paint you are trying to alter, the file must be dropped in its own unique texture folder and not in the models default 'texture' folder.

Yes Sir. I will try that. Like I said I'll keep playing with it. Besides it is kind of fun.

Gotta grab the Breitling one. Awesome detail with the yellow helmet!
For some reason, it's probably the large canopy, I've always noticed at airshows how the helmet always stands out in a P51.
