Alternator / voltage issues

Post by studentpilot16 »

So I’m running the IO-550 on my bonanza. I currently have 88.5 hours on the engine and airframe. I have not really had any issues out of the aircraft other than my tach and fuel flow both decided to start reading low but fixed that in the maintenance hanger and have had no further issues. On one of my last flights I noticed by alt warning light came on and I was getting very crazy voltage readings on the gauge. I assumed my alternator was about to fail so I followed the emergency procedures listed in the checklist, landed and shut down. When I got into the maintenance hanger, nothing was wrong. This problem first popped up at about 87 hours, and so far other than dim lights at low rpm, everything seems to be working even with the strange voltage readings and periodic alt warning light coming on. Has anyone experienced this, and have a fix?

Did you check the gauges as well?

I did. I’m flying it right now, it’s reading and operating normally now. I may have just had a gremlin in it but it has never done that before.

And now it’s back to doing it again.
