Error on trying to install

Post by Need-To-Know »

I just purchased and this exact message is happening to me as well.
Never installed before
MSFS 2020 - no 2024 installed

Nothing has moved the same computer. MSFS brought from store. PC no XBox

I read through your support replies. My configs all point to the correct file. They are all on the C: drive, the same as the MSFS install. No Addon's Linker.

I even copied the path directly and pasted it into the paid FSUIPC log, but there was no change. Then returned the log to the original. Restarted. Disabled vires and file protection. Admin rights.

My location:
C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

Last line of my UserCfg
InstalledPackagesPath "C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages"

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Apologies for the slow, reply, just got back home. I read your other post, so seems the message in question is "Could not access network location h found". This is an odd one as you're the fourth (I think) person who has reported this in the past few weeks, but it's a message that hasn't been reported previously as far as I can recall. Nothing has changed with the installer, so I'm wondering if change with the Xbox App or a Windows update is behind this.

In two of the other cases, the posters reported that they tried downloading/installing again and it seemed to work fine. Also, please can you check the installer is fully extracted from the zipped archive it's packed in before you run it. If the issue persists, please can you let me know the path where the installer itself is located when you launch it.

Thanks,
Nick

Hey Nick,
No worries! I always know you guys come through. Yeah, it's a strange one. I have tried everything. I did some googling and tried everything they said but to no avail.

The error showed up the first time I tried installing but then after maybe 25+ tries once it got to the screen asking me for the location of my MSFS install - you see here is where I messed up - I thought it wanted the Programs folder, not the community folder. Yeah screw me it was installed in the wrong place and nothing worked trying again.

I did read that about downloading, and I tried it—and just tried it again. I also thought about the Zipper and used Win 11 default and WinRAR.

I have tried several paths, but the path is in the extracted folder or dragged out, so the exe is on my desktop. I also put it on all of my other drives.

C:\Users\Rob\Desktop\A2A_Comanche_MSFS

I'm not worried. You guys are geniuses and will figure it out at some point. I have about 4 hours into this - I am out of ideas. Santa was good to me and I have many other planes to learn.

Thanks for the kind words Rob and good to hear you have some other new add-ons to keep you occupied. :)

Thanks also for the detailed info and screenshots. Everything there seems fine, but would you be happy to temporarily switching off that "HIPS" setting in ESET when you run the installer? I'm not very optimistic it'll help, but seems this feature does monitor the Windows registry which the installer reads and writes to.

For what it's worth the exact error message "could not access network location h found" is a mystery to me (specifically the "h found" bit). I searched the web for that exact string and the only reference to it is on the forums here in the last couple of weeks. :?

Cheers (and Happy New Year!)

Hey Nick,
So yeah no - the HIPs off did not work.

Thanks. I don't mind waiting, but man do I look forward to the best GA AC in MSFS!

Hopefully, a new installer will help.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi,

i have after a few weeks deleted the msfs 2020. So, now i try´d install the comanche in the msfs 2024. But, the installer dont find my mssfs 2020 installation. this i correct, i dont have the msfs 2020 anymore. But, what is the solution to install the comanche now in the 2024? The Installer dont have a prompt for choose a installation path. This is very bad i think.

So, please, can you help me? My email adress in this forum is the same, for my account which i have purchased the comanche.

Sorry for my bad english.

Best regards

Hi,

If you run the installer and MSFS (2020) isn't installed, you should be presented with the dialog shown below which will let you browse to your MSFS 2024 community folder.

Are you seeing something else? If so, it might be because there's a third-party file or registry entry on your PC which still contains your old MSFS community folder path.

Thanks,

Please can you try to describe what you do see when you run the installer. It's difficult to help otherwise.

So, now the installation worked. But I didn't change anything. I don't know why. I had the same message as the thread creator before.
