Question about flaps and preflight check

Post by Frank.O »

Hi all,

my Comanche has quite a few hours logged now so after todays flight I thought it would be a good idea to do an inspection.
A landing flap was indicated in yellow saying there is a problem in the linkage and that something is scratching in there.
Of course I had done the preflight check and there had been nothing unusual so before fixing it I set the tablet to walkaround mode and extended the flaps and went out to check said flap. Nothing unusual could be heard between the two klonks when moving it up and down.
Same result after bringing the flaps up to the second stage. Only in the first stage a faint squeeking was audible on the failed flap.

In every video I had watched the flaps were always fully down for the preflight check so this is what I am doing also.
So... is this as it is intended? Then I should probably use the first stage of flaps for the preflight in the future?
Or is it simply a small glitch?

Kind regards,
Frank

I once had a yellow indication on flaps, and it was audible when moving the flaps through their positions, from the cockpit. I don't remember in which position it sounded wrong, nor would I know if the flaps can have an issue in any of the steps or if it was the same all times. I don't know if handling the flaps manually in the walkaround adds any information above simply cycling them, using F6 and F7 or what have you binded.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm simming on Xbox - if that matters in any way.

Esa, thanks for your reply. From the cockpit nothing was audible when operating the flaps. Only out at the flaps and only in the 1. stage.
I think that's why it escaped me on the preflight check I did before the flight.
Someone from A2A is needed here to tell whether or not this is intended behaviour.
Once I know that I can adjust to it. :)

And I'm still using FS2020 I might add.
