Hi Patrick

I have just sent you an email with screenshots of my settings - I hope they are sufficient but please let me know if you need any more as I did not send every single one. I do think that with a stable BoB2 I could run 2.13 at higher graphic settings for things like shading and weather detail.

I think that the test I did tonight had good results. However, I need to do some more testing in the campaign to decide if that part of BoB2 is acceptable. I will do this and let you know what I think. As we have discussed the campaign is the part of BoB2 that is my passion.

Cheers

Keith

Off topic - I noticed your Pierre Clostermann quote in your posts. I have a lot of biographies of WW2 fighter pilots and I think that 'The Big Show' is by far the best of them. No other book describes what it was like as well as he does. I have read it several times and will read it several more times before I am done!
Yes for that off topic , I read it twenty years ago, a great book ; but I lost it …
I buy it again and surprise the book is about 760 pages , same format, with 6-7 cm thickness ! Mine was just 2-3 cm as long I remember … so I hadn’t the complete edition ; I found again a treasure ….
Cheers

Ok Keith and thanks again
I found CTD at the beginning of the raf campaign, with the systematic Ndll.DLL error message … it is a pity.
Try this and tell me for confirm
To test this I agree to use the settings you sent me by email…

The only snag is that, so far, I can only get it to run in 4:3 aspect ratio. When I extend it to widescreen 16:9, I get an immediate ctd. It's frustrating to get so near, but remain so far. Yet, is it not surprising that aspect ratio should be such a stumbling block? I have ReShade working and there is a way of adjusting aspect ratio through Reshade. So, I'll experiment a little more.
Interesting idea 👍 to run in the 4:3 aspect ratio

hi all. Seems from my mailbox I've suddenly become popular. Curiously, I had only done my every couple of weeks check in a day before, but things seemed pretty quiet here. Anyway, I have replied to the mailbox. I fear I may be regarded as having more significance in the BoB2 world, than is actually the case.

Hello PV, you're welcome

hello PV , thanks for your very long PM that i am reading right now ; as i said your are welcome , and your advice is also the welcome on the subject of our work in collaboration with Lofty...; but on the forum since a while we don't have reported about this works and conclusions, because we essentially work with private emails.

Hello all guys
I tried to fly over London with my gtx 1060 a little bit overclocked (see my specs) , this pic is taken with FULL density objects (100%) , filtering ALL but HIGH texture in game.
The FPS is very low 😡; I have limited it to 58 in the NVidia Panel

A pic of Tangmere with FULL density object, but HIGH details meteo…Rogeroger mod terrain installed

Hi all
For several months, I've been searching for a solution to make Bob 2 work with Windows 10, eliminating as many CTDs as possible. I've found a way to make it work in its final version 2.13.
With Lofty we have done a lot of testing and progress since the beginning of this project, to reach a very acceptable point allowing us to now share this work with members of this forum who could test it with us.

The CTD rate is extremely low and the campaign mode works correctly. Note that you can re-use the Auto Save (.BSL) file if an exceptional CTD occurs, or any of your own saved (.bsR) files.
Bugs when entering or exiting 3D are absent (Campaign and Quick Mission).

We're therefore looking for testers to test bob2 on Windows 10, and possibly Windows 11.
Welcome to anyone who would like to join us; please send a private message to Jarods18 and Lofty.

Hello A. Fokker (great name!😉).
Welcome and thanks for helping to test the great work that Jarods is doing.
I have just started a campaign and although it is early days I have no CTD’s, including coming in and out of the map, 3D or exiting a mission. However, we are testing to see what if any problems arise and this feedback will be helpful to Jarods in his efforts to get BoB2 is a stable state under w10.
Thanks again. happy flying & do let us know how you get on.
Cheers

Hello Keith, PV, A.Fokker
Thanks for this initial report regarding your campaign testing and the existence of CTDs before, during, and after 3D; keep us updated on the forum on your progress and whether you can recover the mission that caused the CTD (with Auto Save.bsR).

For my part, with high GFX and more GFX settings I've had very few CTDs: one or two in the execution of 3D; and two on the map by switching to 3D map/moving forward on the map, without losing information by using the AutoSave file, which allowed me to restart the mission and move forward without CTDs....

Btw :
In a MP , one month ago, PV send me this message :
« Are you able to run a campaign with saves that can be resumed? That was the main failure we were up against with win10 - everything more or less worked until you exited a 3D flight session in campaign mode, then the program crashed before anything accomplished in 3D could be registered and saved. »
I can reply yes 👍

To be confirmed for you and A.Fokker

Cheers patrick

Well, I have been trying trying to run the game without crashing, but I find it more or less a hopeless affair and just very frustrating. At some point the game always crashes. I can get to run the game more or less stable with carefully making sure that there is as little as possible graphics mode switching but even then at some point it will crash. Where is Wolfram Kuss when you need him (somebody know what happened to him? Or to Buddeye for that matter. Some Code Guru is needed to solve this.
I don#t think this can be solved just by manipulating the graphics or game settings.

I think Wolfram (Osram) could be availbale here : w_kuss(at)rz-online.de. However, I am not sure it is still interested in BoBII.
