Hi Paul,

If the error is referring to a specific file, please can you try removing it from the installed location. For example, if the error says:

Error getting file security
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\a2a-aircraft-pa24\en-US.locPak GetLastError : 448

Please can you try moving the file in question (the "en-US.locPak" from the "a2a-aircraft-pa24" folder in "Community") outside the folder and then rerun the updater.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thank you so much for your help and all the help i see you giving to everyone else,

After trying all the suggestions i see in the forum from yourself

What eventually worked for me was to -

1 - remove complete a2a Comanche aircraft folder from community folder to desktop,
2 - Run v1.2 installer and check it is in the community folder
3 - move complete a2a Comanche aircraft folder back to community folder and do not to overwrite x40 files
4 - check that complete a2a Comanche aircraft folder is back in the community folder
5 - restart pc
6 - run flightsim 2020

and a2a Comanche is back in sim with v1.2 showing in tablet, quick test flight and all is good,
By far the best aircraft in msfs 2020

only problem now is i am taking someone flying in my fullsize aircraft and wont get back to sim until later tonight

thanks again

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the update and good workaround. I'm determined to find what causing the OS to hang on to the en-US.locPak and other files. In the meantime, safe and happy flying, both real world and sim.

Cheers,

If you're seeing this error message when you run the updater, please can you give us some basic info to help us. For example:

1. Which version of Windows are you running?
2. What's the full path for your Community folder?
3. Are you installing to a Windows account for which you have admin rights?
4. Any third-party app managing Community folder content?
5. Any third party anti-virus running or just Windows Security?

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick,
I too am receiving this error that others have. GetLastError: 448
I have Windows 11, Default Windows Security. The Comanche is not part of Addons Linker, was installed as default.
Path: C:\Users\Tommy\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
One thing to note... I had to move my copy of MSFS to a larger drive a few weeks ago, all has been working well, and zero issues since the move. I wonder if this move could be related to the error?
The Comanche works perfectly on the previous version, so I doubt the move could be causing the error, but figured I'd better mention it.

Hi Piper5299X ,

It's possible the path you're trying to install the Comanche to doesn't match the new location of your MSFS install, depending on the method you used to relocate it.

The path you link above (C:\Users\Tommy\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community) is the default location for the Community on the system drive.

However, from your post, it sounds like you moved your MSFS install to a different physical drive rather than adding more storage to the existing C: volume. Anyway, you should be able to use MSFS developer mode to open the registered community folder, which is the location where the Comanche should be installed.
  1. Activate the Developer Mode using Options -> General Options -> Developers.
  2. A menu bar will now appear when you move the cursor to the top of the screen, from this select Tools -> Virtual File System.
  3. Click Packages Folders -> Open Community Folder and Windows Explorer will open your 'Community' folder.
If you can confirm the path of this folder, it should help us understand the issue a little better.

Thanks,
Nick

Following the Dev Mode instructions you've provided, this is the current path. C:\Users\Tommy\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

I've posted the path above per your Dev Mode instructions. Any other suggestions why I can not update?

Apologies for the delated reply Piper5299X, I've been a bit tied up with the day job. You mentioned above that you moved your copy of MSFS to a new drive, but your Community folder is still on the C: drive in the default location, which seems a bit odd. That's unless you mirrored your entire old operating system drive to a new, larger drive, or expanded it with a RAID 0 setup or something.

Please can you try to give us a bit more info on how you moved the MSFS installation?

Thanks,
Nick

I just used the Move option in Windows 11 for MSFS to a different larger drive.

Sorry to be a pain, but please can you explain in a bit more detail what you mean by "the Move option in Windows 11". I'm trying to understand exactly how you got your MSFS installation from your original drive (which was presumably your system drive - C:) onto your new, larger, one.

Also, if you manually open the MSFS 'Community' folder on the new drive, what's its the full path?

Thanks,
Nick

You are definitely not being a pain! I really appreciate the help!
I just used the Move app option in Settings in Windows 11. (See attached screenshot)

This is the New Path for the Community Folder, D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-515180230-3964341080-798585228-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
